Case of the month

A 31-year-old woman with chronic cough

A 31-year-old female was referred for evaluation of chronic cough. She had cough with expectoration for 2 months and cough immediately after swallowing. The sputum contained food particles and had been purulent for 7 days. The patient reported intermittent fever over the previous 7 days.

What will lead to cough immediately after swallowing with expectoration of food particles?
