31st Annual Aquinas Lecture: Hanging On and Letting Go-Ethical Issues in Care at End of Life
When: Sunday, January 26, 2014 Time: 3:00 pm
Where: Saint Francis Xavier College Church Ballroom
For more information, contact: Sr. Colleen Mallon, O.P.

What is the appropriate care for a person, a loved one, facing a
terminal illness? Given advances in medical therapies, what constitutes appropriate care? Are there limits? How does one "think with the Church" in this challenging moral area? This year's Aquinas lecture focuses on a critical contemporary issue: care at the end of life. Drawing from the wisdom of St. Thomas Aquinas, Dr. Sulmasy, an ethicist and a practicing physician, will consider real situations and draw from our Catholic tradition to illuminate possible responses and alternatives.
Daniel Sulmasy, M.D., Ph.D. is a general internist, philosopher and professor of medicine and ethics in the Department of Medicine and Divinity School at the University of Chicago.
