Welcome to July's edition of Fast Facts

Network Experts successfully trained!
Network ExpertTo help the Life-Sciences Industry make the most of the free, bespoke services on offer the Clinical Research Network (CRN) is training company representatives as ‘Network Experts’.  The community of Network Experts enables the CRN to directly provide dedicated communications regarding the latest service and process updates which can be shared within the Network Expert’s company.  The group also provides a forum to access continuing support both from the CRN and other Life-Science Industry members, enabling the Network Expert to establish themselves as the ‘go-to’ person for their colleagues.

Feedback from our latest training session resulted in attendees feeling more confident about the service offerings available, utilising CRN specific processes (e.g. CSP) and tools (e.g. costing template, model agreement), issue resolution and who to contact for support.

If you would like to become a ‘Network Expert’ please register your interest for our next training event with the CRN Industry Team at supportmystudy@nihr.ac.uk

Fast Facts:

Fast Fact 1Significant improvement in commercial research key statistics
The NIHR CRN recently released our 2012/13 key statistics for commercial contract research delivery in the NHS. The highlights include just under a 20% increase in number of commercial trials supported by the Network with 63% of NHS Trusts taking part in commercial research.  The speed of study set up is improving dramatically, we have halved the median number of days it takes to obtain NHS permission across all sites in commercial contract studies to 55 calendar days helping the Network to recruit 11 first global patients and two first European patients.

Download the summary data sheet and access our full portfolio (commercial and non-commercial) quarterly performance reports on our website.

Fast Fact 2Save the Date!
NIHR CRN National Event for Industry
Thursday 3rd October 2013, 9.30am - 4pm
Congress Centre, London

Following the overwhelmingly positive feedback from previous events, the NIHR CRN will be hosting another National Event for Industry in 2013.  This year’s event will be focused on ‘looking to the future’ so please save the date in your calendars. Agenda and registration details to follow shortly and will be made available on our website www.supportmystudy@nihr.ac.uk

Fast Fact 3Industry Speaker request
The CRN continually hosts events across the country to support and encourage delivery of commercial research.  We receive positive feedback when Life Science Industry Representatives are able to attend to give their alternative viewpoint on the subject and therefore we have set up a system to enable you to register your interest in speaking at upcoming events on our website.  This system is also designed to centrally co-ordinate the requests for speakers.

Fast Fact 4New Industry Service Offering Leaflets
Three leaflets describing our service offerings in more detail are now available to download from our website’s publications section covering our feasibility service, using CSP and finally our cost and contract support.  The aim of these documents is to provide summary information about our services, the benefits they offer and how they integrate into the research study pathway.

Fast Fact 5Revised route map
Following on from our website improvements, we have re-launched our ‘study route map’ to provide a visual picture of the services we offer to the Life-Science Industry and when to access them.  You can access the route map on our website.
